Terms of Service for Nakama: Your Japanese Buddy

By using Nakama: Your Japanese Buddy (“Nakama”, “the app”) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Who can use Nakama
You must be 18 years or older. You are responsible for your account and for everything done through it.

2. What the app does
Nakama connects learners and native speakers of Japanese for anonymous voice practice. You can start calls, add friends, and book calls for later. We do not guarantee that you will be matched, that other users will be available, or that any user’s Japanese is accurate. The app is a practice tool and not a substitute for professional teaching.

3. Your conduct
You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, abuse, or discriminate against anyone

• Send or say sexual, violent, hateful, or illegal content

• Ask for or share personal details such as real names, phone numbers, addresses, or financial information

• Impersonate others, or use the app for scams, advertising, or spam

• Record other users’ calls without their consent

• Use bots, scripts, or other tools to misuse or overload the service

• Try to avoid daily limits, bans, or other restrictions

4. Safety and reporting
You can report or block any user in the app. We may review reports and take action, including warnings, suspension, or permanent removal of accounts, at our discretion and without notice.

5. Free usage and subscriptions
The app currently includes a daily free call limit of 20 minutes. We may change the limit, introduce paid plans, or change prices in the future. We will tell you before any paid feature applies to you.

6. Notifications and emails
With your permission, we send push notifications about bookings, call reminders, calls, and missed calls. We may also send a welcome email and important service messages. You can turn off push notifications in your phone’s settings at any time.

7. Your content and privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. You are responsible for what you say on calls.

8. Termination
You can stop using the app and request deletion of your account at any time, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or put others at risk.

9. Disclaimers
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee that it will always work without interruption or errors. We are not responsible for what other users say or do. To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

10. Changes
We may update these terms. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction.
